Have you ever seen two swans sleeping?
Cocooned into themselves as self sufficient duvets
Two lovers next to one another
The warm self hug
As the duck swims a beautiful course along the river alone with grace
And I missed you in that moment
I wanted to point out its beauty in symmetry leaving traces of its journey behind in its wake
Of wanting to tell you that you shouldn’t feed bread to the ducks anymore and instead feed them grapes
I would’ve asked you why grapes
And who knows if you or I would know that answer
But there’s something soft in the asking anyway
In asking without expectation of reply
